Plants flowers, mows, pulls weeds, repairs structures, and maintains outside of building and parking lots.
Essential Functions The following responsibilities represent the essential functions of the position. An employee in this classification is responsible for carrying out the following functions:
•Perform grounds keeping and building maintenance duties.
•Mow lawn, by either hand or using a riding lawnmower.
•Cut lawn using hand, power or riding mower and trim and edge around walks,
flowerbeds, and walls.
•Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.
•Apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks, and
others.
•Apply fertilizer to ground to enhance growth.
•Perform routine maintenance duties such as applying plaster, fixing fountains, and
other duties assigned by the facilities department.
•Sweep walkway of debris.
•Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger.
•Trim shrubs and pull weeds.
•Perform preventive maintenance procedures and minor repairs on equipment
utilized in grounds keeping.
•Install exterior furniture.
•Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed.
•Install rock, cement, lighting, water, and furniture (Hardscape).
•Water plants and grass as needed and apply fertilizer.
•Repair / replace broken sprinkler valves / sprinklers
•Knowledge of basic facilities experience is a must. Basic plumbing. Change out
light bulbs. Painting. Etc
Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of related experience in a landscaping or groundskeeping role. Possession of a valid California driver's license and clear driving record. Approval by HOPE's insurance carrier may be required.
Required Knowledge and Skills •Must be able to operate maintenance equipment including lawn mowers, leaf
blowers, and hedge trimmers
•Strong knowledge of pest management and basic lawn maintenance
•High attention to detail
Environmental Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Primarily functions outdoors, with exposure to heat, cold, and inclement weather. Exposure to hazardous chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, etc.), fumes from equipment operation, dust/dirt and pollens. Local travel required.
$22.50 - $23.10 an hour
