GCU Traditional Campus located in Phoenix, AZ :+ Courses are in-person and on-campus for the Fall 2024 semester (09/03/2024 – 12/15/2024)
Courses: DDN -160: 2D Motion Design 1 This foundational motion course examines the basics of 2D motion design as it relates to graphic design. Students examine 2D motion in the context of the 12 Principles of Animation, the foundation of motion. This course teaches students how to view graphic design with the addition of a timeline. Students are introduced to the production pipeline as it relates to 2D graphic design in the context of motion. During preproduction, students strategize how to complete 2D motion graphics. Students then start crafting the assets and 2D motion of their projects in production and present a finalized motion graphic during post-production. DDN -260: 2D Motion Design 2 This course expands upon 2D motion design concepts as they relate to graphic design. Students continue exploring the 12 Principles of Animation and the production pipeline as a whole. Students explore audio, video, graphics, and type as assets for 2D motion graphics, and research industry trends in 2D motion and use that research to drive their work forward. DDN -370: Designing with Motion Graphics During this course students will create animated graphics in a variety of mediums to meet client business needs. This course includes reading, writing, and lab assignments and requires the creation and exhibition of student artwork. What You Will Do:+ Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions while incorporating innovative teaching strategies
+ Engage students in cutting-edge technologies and industry trends
+ Assess student performance and mentor classroom success to prepare them for their chosen career path
+ Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University
What You Will Bring:+ Bachelor’s degree in animation, graphic design, advertising, motion graphics, visual communication, or an equivalent degree in the visual arts.
+ AND 3 or more years’ experience in the design industry
+ AND Knowledge of animation, principles of design, color theory and composition, and rapid visualization for storyboarding , understanding of graphic design and how it relates to motion graphics, motion graphics trends, basic video editing, basic compositing, color correction, motion production pipeline, and understanding of the use of motion graphics in various industries
+ AND industry-level knowledge of After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Premiere Rush are required.
+ Job titles that fit the criteria: Motion Graphics Designer, Graphic Designer, Art Director, Creative Director, Video Editor.
+ Portfolio will be requested for review of application documents
